The author

I write about ordinary bravery — and I write it loud.

My name is Cecilia Tibell. I live in Stockholm, I write in the margins of long days, and every novel I have finished started as a single stubborn scene I could not put down. The Story of Us came out first — a love story I refused to make small. Mission Complete followed, harder and less forgiving. Two more are being written right now.

I am drawn to people who keep going without an audience: the ones who stay sober one more day, who tell the truth at the worst possible moment, who love someone difficult anyway. My characters lie, want too much and get things wrong — and I let them, because that is where the story lives.

Off the page I train most days of the week, compose and play music, write short poems nobody asks for, and read late into the night. The playlists attached to each novel are not decoration — they are what the chapters were written to.

Mission Complete

Second novel · In printing · Sold directly here

Sophie knows how to keep a system safe. People are harder. When a breach opens a door that should have stayed shut, the boyfriend she has already begun to doubt has spent a year living under a name that isn't his — and the man she falls for instead is no more honest. Two men, one woman, and not a single clean loyalty between them. Betrayal and desire, loyalty and lies, thrown into the same pit to see what crawls out. Not a spy story, not a crime story — a story about people, and the mistakes they make with each other. No one is free from sin. So who is casting the first stone?

Molly and Will

Third novel · In writing

Molly wakes up furious, milkless and running on four hours of sleep, having fallen out with her best friend. Will is the one who interrupts her newspaper. What neither of them says over that first coffee: he crawled out of a burning house five years ago and his chosen brother didn't, and she has been counting sober days longer than she has counted anything else. Three weeks in he has told her everything; she has told him almost nothing — because Molly is certain that the moment he knows all of it, he leaves. Two voices, one song per chapter, and no promises — the story is still being written.

Blood Rush

Fourth novel · Fantasy · In writing

Renée has been starving for weeks. Two hundred and one years old, hunted, hiding in the sewers of a city that no longer hides anything from her, she takes one drunk too far and has to let the rats clean up after her. The old truce between immortals and hunters is long dead, her safehouses are gone and most of her friends are ash — so she knocks on the door of Claude, five hundred years old, unreasonably strong, and still holding a grudge from thirty years ago. Vampires, werewolves, fae and elves, each keeping to their own corner of a war none of them can win alone. Appetite, power and very old grievances — a fantasy in progress.
